Start having some fun!
If you can't have some fun talking about your business why would anyone want to work with you?

I love it when the football season starts. First and foremost the Dallas Cowboys are back in full effect which makes me happy. They have pretty blue stars on their glittery silver helmets. How nice. How could anyone not like them?

But what's even better about the new football season is that advertisers start new ad campaigns and some of them are a real blast to watch. I actually look forward to seeing them again and again.

My favorite right now is the "Man Laws" campaign for Miller Lite. Good stuff. Others that I really enjoy include the Geico Cavemen series and the Honda Element "I Pinch" ads. All of them are clever and fun. Plus I would have loved to been paid to make those. How cool is it when a company is willing to go out on a limb and take a chance with their message.

Very refreshing.

I'm a great fit for people looking to accomplish this kind of buzz for their product or service. I have no problem taking chances and making you feel comfortable with them. There's actually a lot of logic and process that goes into what appear to be goofy or whimsical ideas. A lot of process.

You really want to be sure a message or campaign that is "out there" has lots of sound logic underneath it so that the critics or competition or whomever comments on the new messaging can't tear it apart. If you can do that then you have a very solid and impactful message that really sells itself.

I think everyone does two things socially, whether it be dinner or a night on the town or at the water cooler: talk about ads they've seen and relate stuff to Seinfeld episodes and characters.

If they're talking about ads they've seen then the ad is doing a heck of a job for that company. It's selling itself. I guess you could call that viral marketing but there's actually official viral marketing. But you get the idea.

So let me come in and stir things up a bit. Even if you're another creative or agency. I can really turn things inside out and bring a fresh point of view to a challenge.

Let's have some fun!

I'd like to be your friend first, so get to know me by crawling around my newsletter, friends' sites and my web site. See you next issue!

Go! Turn your brain inside out.
"New Thought" vs. "Comfy Thought"

A good way to keep your brain doing somersaults of productive creativity is to keep it off guard. Trick your brain into doing things differently. By doing this you will actually have fun in general as you discover new things around you, realize things you know are different or pick up new skills and/or hobbies.

Do you really know marketing?
If so, there is a 12 step program available in the trunk of my OldsmoBuick that could change your life.

We marketers make a living by helping others get their message out there into the market: clearly, concisely and powerfully to the point. We are great at honing, noodling, improving and provoking. We can create incredible stuff. And we can come up with very inventive ways for breaking the mold, busting a trend, being heard in the cacophony and catching the eye of the jaded, blinder-wearing, tunnel visioned average consumer.

King Crimson
This month's music selection

King Crimson is a creative band I believe will always be ahead of its time, even 100 years later. I'm just getting into these guys per the recommendation of several music buddies. I'm digging the tunes, but have to say that it does take some getting used to.

But it made me think....
